Candidate for Board Member; Ravenswood City School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Experienced leadership is needed to address some of the challenges we face Ravenswood school district. We have made some improvement in student achievement, increase after school support for most students and have retained quality teachers.
If reelected to the Ravenswood School Board, I will work with the board to accomplish the following:

  • Responsible oversight and management of budget: We must work to ensure funds are being spent on our children. Each year the budget has been reduced, we must take responsible leadership in determining the use of the funds received. We must work to develop alternative funding sources to avoid deeper cuts to the classrooms.

  • Expanding partnerships: Working to expand existing partnerships to increase resources and support for our students. There are agencies both in and outside of the community who we can partner with to bring new support services to our children and their families.

  • Reducing the high school drop - out rate: We must focus on 8th grade transition to create a seamless transition to high school to increase long - term success for our students. Our students must be equipped with 21st century skills. We have an obligation to work with everyone who can contribute to this effort.
