Plan for Harbor

By Brandon Christopher Kwan

Candidate for Commissioner; San Mateo County Harbor District

This information is provided by the candidate
A new beginning for our harbor.
Balanced Budget

In order to create a balanced budget, we must plan ahead so we do not get any deficits. The State of California Constitution requires a balanced budget and so should the commission. I want a zero based budgeting process where every item starts with zero and we allocate the funding based on what we can afford and which project is the most needed.

Offices

Spending thousands of dollars on new offices for the district is an unnecessary cost to our funding. Even the commissioners should cut cost on where they meet. If I am your commissioner I would try to propose meeting by televideo conferences so people at home can tap into the meeting, tweet their concerns, or e-mail us so we can discuss our matters. This way the commissioners will be able to have a meeting even one is out of town.

Clean Harbor

Education is an important component in keeping our harbors clean. We must make sure that people are aware how the coastline will effect them and how we can prevent this.

Growth of Harbor

I will propose lowering fees in the district is there shall be a surplus in revenue. In order to grow our harbors, possibly into ports, we must create an environment where leases and other agreements are friendly to businesses and recreational activities. Loosening the lease agreements and allowing more activities shall attract anyone who desires to contribute to our ports. If you want to launch your submarine at Oyster Point, then you should be able to.
