Political Philosophy for Jo-Ann "Sockolov" Byrne
Candidate for |
Priorities as a Trustee Jo-Ann is a proven leader in our culturally and socio-economically diverse community and has a strong ability to bring key stakeholders together to focus on achieving common goals. She has worked as an integral member of our schools community during times of uncertain education funding, with strong participation in efforts to restore and reform funding in our schools. She has helped to build successful partnerships with business and community-based organizations to share and leverage resources and implement joint programs and initiatives in support of thousands of children in our community. As a Trustee, she will call upon all of these experiences and networks to ensure education excellence for all our children, no matter their backgrounds or needs. Her priorities include: -Closing the Achievement Gap. -Improving Kindergarten readiness and high school graduation rates. -Equipping our children for success in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary school, work, and life. -Ensuring a world-class K-12 public school system in our County, which is by all measures one of the most diverse, dynamic, and leading-edge regions on the globe. Our children should be able to compete effectively and enjoy a high quality of life here, if they choose, including being able to one day raise their own children here, knowing they, too, will receive a high-quality education. |
