I was born in New Orleans and grew up on the Gulf Coast. In 1993, after a BFA in photography, I moved to California and eventually settled in Moss Beach. My neighborhood, Seal Cove, is on the bluff overlooking Mavericks surf break and near the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Pillar Point Harbor is a short bike ride away. You can often find me walking the Coastal Trail in my neighborhood, surfing with friends, or mountain biking on Montara Mountain. I recently joined Tom Mattusch on the Huli Cat, helping with the Collaborative Fisheries Project. The trip to the Aņo Nuevo reference sites was part of a research program. We caught 386 fish from 13 different species, tagged them, and threw them back. In 1998, I founded Digital Fusion Media, Inc, a small company that specializes in architectural signage, event graphics, and museum exhibition graphics. DFM partners with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the de Young Museum, Gensler Architecture, Oracle Team USA and the America's Cup, among others. I'm very excited about the America's Cup coming to San Francisco! Community Service In 2009, I completed a term on the Midcoast Community Council, an elected municipal advisory committee to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. I currently serve on:
Inspired and moved by the people who make their living fishing in the Gulf, I attended the first National Oil Spill Commission hearing in New Orleans, broadcast on C-SPAN. At the hearing, I served as an advocate for the health and safety of workers hired by BP to clean up after the disaster. That's when I decided to run for a seat on the Harbor Commission. It's very important to me that we do a better job protecting our shore than was done on the Gulf Coast. I feel compelled to do my part, and I'm passionate about it. Your Vote is Important! If you eat seafood, it may have come from Pillar Point Harbor. If you travel to the East Bay, the ferry from Oyster Point will take you to Oakland. The Harbor Commission is a key part of providing these services. Property taxes pay for the Harbor District, so every voter in San Mateo County has a say in the election. If you care about our ocean and bay environment, your voice is important. If you care about local jobs and the economy they support, your voice is important. If you care about your own tax dollars, your voice is important. Should I win, I'll serve by attending two meetings every month for four years, accompanied by site visits, lots of research and public outreach. I'm committed to do this because I care about our environment and our community. Please cast a vote in this race. |
