My lifetime of public service includes the US Navy, and 30 years as a police officer. I have always been active in my community, involved with several cultural and performing arts festivals, and with civic and community organizations, including the St. Rose School Board, Daniel Lewis Site Council, 4-H Management Board, Girls Youth Basketball, the Senior Citizens Center, Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, County Airport Land Use Commission, American Legion, VFW, Elks, Estrella Warbirds, Optimist Club, and Toys for Tots, most recently North County Women's Shelter Board. I have had the opportunity to develop and create a vision for Paso Robles that I believe represents the voice of the community, both in the workplace and in the home. I believe you lead by setting the right example. The mayor cannot lead by sitting in an office; the mayor must be out in the community reachable at all times. From the time I was Honorably Discharged from the Navy I have been actively involved in our community.

I served 8 years on the Paso Robles City Council, 4 years as Mayor Pro Tem. I have also served 11 years on the Paso Robles Planning Commission, one year vice chairman and then as chairman. I have spent 30 years developing and maintaining meaningful relationships in the public and private sectors, being inclusive, not exclusive. I have had the opportunity to develop and create a vision for Paso Robles that I believe represents the voice of the community. Paso Robles needs a mayor that is willing to invest the time it takes to lead this city into the next decade. I have an in-depth knowledge of issues facing our city. Being actively involved, I am keenly aware of what needs to be done.

When you hire me, you are hiring a full-time Mayor. I listen to the entire community, not just a few. I will be active in the local and statewide public arena, advocating for economic development for Paso Robles. I have the courage and determination to unite the Council in meeting the challenges of tough times, and planning for the future together with all our citizens. This race is about who will take the reins and lead this City forward. I, Gary Nemeth, will be that mayor.

I will continue working towards advancing cultural diversity in our community, improving transportation for our disabled and senior citizens, maintaining steady economic growth and development, promoting tourism in the downtown area, hiring an independent contractor to bring safe and clean economic development to our community. As new business opportunities representing the five business clusters that are producing job opportunities in our county, or any other business opportunities present themselves, I will continue working closely with community leaders and the county EVC to insure that future development enhances our city, benefits the community, and creates job opportunities for those seeking a higher standard of living.

Most of all I will work to assure each of our residents that our neighborhoods will continue to be safe with enough police and fire officers to ensure their safety, and our children will have ample opportunities for advancements in education. During my time as council member, I built a reputation for integrity, fairness, sound judgment, accessibility, willingness to listening to individual concerns, and always being accountable for my decisions. As your mayor, I will continue to provide leadership to make Paso Robles a distinguished city whose principles and values represent the quality of life, family traditions and the heritage that makes this city what it is today.

City government needs to make Paso Robles more user-friendly. Our attitude as elected officials must be one of helpful service to our residents. Our policies have to make it easy to do business in the city. We have to eliminate roadblocks and excessive reviews. We must remember residents' needs in this economy. I believe the City has treated the developers poorly, putting extra roadblocks in the way.

I am always out in the community listening to residents, helping them resolve their issues. I work FOR the community, being at community meetings to listen to concerns - at the senior center, vets hall, high school or wherever the community meets - engaging residents so they know I care. I work alongside our city employees so they know I care. The message I want to send is that truly "the City does want to be there to help." I ask you the citizens of Paso Robles to take back our city and write in
