2002 + Present | S.W. Martin & Associates |City of Atascadero As the city's Director of Tourism, I designed and directed the City's efforts to publicize and grow its tourism business. I established working relationships with tourism partners including hotels, restaurants, wineries, destination venues and the San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Conference Bureau. I developed trade show presentations, coordinated advertising budgeting/product/placement and created numerous websites. As the City Public Information Officer, I acted as media liaison, created press releases, scheduled press conferences and was responsible for communications strategy. I coordinated the city's media responses to various episodes including the sudden resignation of the Police Chief and cyber-theft attacks on city bank accounts. I received training with local emergency service representatives at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg MD and acted as the city's Emergency PIO. I served as Executive Director to the Atascadero Main Street organization which promotes economic development in the city and its downtown business district. I coordinated relations with a nine-member board, managed the budget and supervised design/promotion/organization/economic restructuring committees consisting of merchants and local citizens. The organization was recognized by the California Downtown Association for the development of a downtown farmers market/street fair and by local/state/federal officials for outstanding community service. The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce named me the Community Service Volunteer of the Year and the Atascadero Main Street Program the Outstanding Community Service Organization in 2007. 1995 + Present | The Tourist LLC Paso Robles, CA I developed The Tourist, an official publication of Amtrak's Coast Starlight. I oversaw editorial flow, advertising production and pre-press preparation. I produced the corporate business plan. The magazine was distributed aboard the train for nearly five years. Currently the company produces The Coffee Buzz and Colony Magazine, two local publications, with other projects in the works. 1995 + 1998 | AdPro Paso Robles, CA I created a full-service advertising production company specializing in working with retail clients to develop print/TV/radio materials. 1989 + 1995 | Twin Cities Community Hospital Templeton, CA I supervised hospital advertising and promotional efforts, prepared the annual Product Line Analysis and Business Plan, worked with multiple department heads, functioned as official liaison with media, assisted with physician recruitment and served on various county and regional hospital association committees. 1986 + 1989 | Paso Robles Country News Paso Robles, CA } Editor-In-Chief. 1981 + 1986 | KPRL-AM/KDDB-FM Paso Robles, CA | Director of News and Operations1977 + 1981 | Paso Robles Public Relations Paso Robles, CA | Founder/Owner1970 + 1977 | KPRL-AM/KPRA-FM Paso Robles, CA | Announcer/Production Director EDUCATION
