As a teacher and parent I bring a unique perspective to the Board of Education. I have knowledge of the issues our students and teachers face in the classroom everyday. I visit our schools and classrooms, attend school events and graduations. I am visible in our schools and our community. As a board member I have attended the annual CSBA (California School Board Association) conference. I attended workshops on student achievement, board policy, budget issues, Common Core Curriculum and the Brown Act. I have expanded my knowledge to better understand all aspects of being a responsible and productive board member. I chaired the committee to form our district's new mission statement and long-term goals- a project that included extensive surveying of teachers, parents, students and the community. I believe communication and cooperation are vital in providing the best education possible for the students of our community.

I am proud that, despite challenging budget issues, we have maintained our music, fine arts and career technical programs in our schools when they are being reduced or eliminated elsewhere. Our students are the most important resource in our community. We owe it to them to offer a diverse and rigorous curriculum, retain experienced and qualified teachers, and provide a safe and nurturing environment in which they can thrive.

Our academic progress has been steadily improving over the four years I've been on the board. We have three of our five schools with an API over 800 and our small district is better performing than many larger districts in San Joaquin County. I am a proud product of the Linden community. I was educated in the same schools as my own children. I would be honored to continue to serve the students and community of Linden.
