Mayor; City of Oceanside

Jim came to Oceanside as a small child with his parents, Harriet and Doc Wood. Doc was a Navy Corpsman who served in three wars: World War II, Korea and Vietnam. During this time, Jim attended local schools and graduated from Oceanside High School and MiraCosta College. Unfortunately, Doc passed away in 1994, but Jim's mother still lives in the family home near the Back Gate of Camp Pendleton.

"Putting People First" is not just a slogan to Jim Wood. His parents instilled in him a strong work ethic as well as a commitment to always put people first. He got his first job at the age of 15 and after completing his education, he went on to devote more than 30 years as an Oceanside Police Officer and Detective. While working to protect the people of Oceanside, Jim worked with the Secret Service, FBI and NCIS, as he was trusted to protect our Presidents.

Jim and his wife, Pam, have been married for 35 years and raised their family here in Oceanside. They have three grown daughters, two son-in-laws, and have just been blessed with their first granddaughter, Anistyn, and a second grandchild on the way.
