I have very specific platform issues that revolve around the below bullet points.

1) The Governing Board Majority Lack of Transparency and Honesty.

2) The Gov. Bd. Review and Oversight of GUHSD Bond Expenditures and Management.

3) The Gov. Bd. Playing Politics Over Good Education Policy.

4) The Gov. Bd. Ignoring Its' Own Committee and Commission Reports.

5) Documented in videos is Gov. Bd. dis-respect during public input at meetings.

We need to be keeping our focus on providing an excellent education to the students of the Grossmont Union High School District. As an involved parent, I see the impact that the Gov. Boards decisions make directly on the students. We need to prepare our students to compete in the global economy of the 21st century while managing our resources with fiscal responsibility.

I will honor the promise to keep children 1st by directing our resources toward that means with that end goal. I want to put kids first, including their families. East San Diego County has strong families, and people make decisions about where they live based upon the schools their children will attend. This is why we must be involved in bettering all of the GUHSD high schools.

We must attract quality new families to the East County. Great schools will do this.

I am a parent of children in the 6th and 8th grades. I feel there has been a general lack of oversight with respect to decisions within our high school district. It was with the hope of being a part of the solution of making this district one that truly puts children first that prompted me to run.

My goals are to adequately fund each of our schools, ensure a timely response to our school's needs, and work to promote positive communication between the district, our schools, teachers, staff, and our communities.

It is the role of a governing board to bring citizen oversight to the school district. It is important that each member is free to approach every issue with an open mind, considering all sides of the issue without any pressure or undue influence of those you've been entrusted to oversee.

If you are NOT satisfied with the current direction of the GUHSD, then please vote to shake things up. For your newly elected GUHSD Governing Board Trustee, you need a new open minded leader, to govern and oversee this high school district. Look to vote for a NEW ALTERNATIVE who will serve with integrity and have honorable ethical practices.

Respectfully,

Bill Weaver, East County Education and Civic Advocate
