Political Philosophy for Ruth Sterling
Candidate for |
Councilwoman Sterling is fiscal conservative, exercising her voice to maintain projected expenditures to stay within the projected revenue. Stay in budget. La Mesa is a well run city. Moody's rated La Mesa with a double AA Bond rating. One factor was stability on the La Mesa City Council. It is a must to assure the might and strength of our Fire and Police Departments in maintaining a safe community. Crime rates tend to escolate during times of economic recession. We must remain vigilant. We have 104 Neighborhood Watch Groups in the City and two (2) more are being developed. Part of my philosophy is being devoted to the responsibilities of that representation which is to analyze before voting, that all decision making data that comes before me falls within my guidelines of my conservative attitude and avoid all unnecessary expenses particularly during this financial meltdown which is not only effecting California but the entire Country. Ruth, believes that strong youth and families make strong communities. Wholesome, competitive programs for kids, I believe are the forerunner of crime prevention. It will substantially reduce vandalism and drug activity. I established a trust fund providing free instructional G.O.L.F. (Good Old La Mesa Fun) for youth. I also initiated the Chess-In-The-Schools Program. There are so many new youth classes offered. Call 619-667-1300 or view the online schedules and enroll online at http://www.cityoflamesa.com/classes. Look for the orange "Enroll Online" button on La Mesa's Class Enrollment site. Councilwoman Ruth Sterling, is the Founder of the La Mesa Flag Day Parade, "A Salute To Old Glory." Our first parade was June 14, 1997. On that same date, Ruth unveiled our first City Flag which she had initiated for all La Mesans to be proud in a Pre-Parade Ceremony. At 10:00 a.m. our City Flags were raised and flown at City Hall, the Police and Fire Stations. It was a grand celebration coupled with the recognition and the reading of the names, who gave their all, now updated, on the Viet Nam War Memorial, in front of the American Legion, let us never forget. La Mesa is a built our community. We must safe guard our neighborhoods ambience and quality of life enjoyed by our citizens. Sterling, opposes infill projects that over build. A letter follows that Ruth received after a neighborhood lost an Appeal regarding a proposed PRD (Planned Residential Development). Re: Appeal of Planning Commission Approval - TTM 11-01(Stanford) August 15, 2012 Dear Councilmember Sterling, I just wanted to thank you for your thoughtful questions and insight regarding the proposed Stanford Commons development, and also for your overall support and sympathy for our appeal. You did not let the vested, powerful interests of the city and the developers sway your beliefs; that kind of integrity is quite rare in any level of government these days. Although the motion to approve the Planning Commission's findings was passed, at least we felt there was one voice in our government who stands up to big money. I sincerely hope that, one fine day, you will become Mayor of La Mesa. I would most assuredly support your campaign should you ever choose to run for the office. Regards, Dave Liles Technical Writer, Senior Staff Qualcommm Incorporated I, have lived in La Mesa for fifty (50) years and raised my family here. Like you, I want La Mesa to remain the very special place it is. I am proud of my record and encourage you to examine it. I love serving you, it is an honor, and ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Re-elect Ruth Sterling, With a Heart and Voice for the People... |
