|
Priscilla is a native of San Diego. She and her sisters were one of the first sets of triplets born in San Diego. They shared that spotlight with their younger sister who was born on their fourth birthday. Priscilla moved to East County in the mid `70s. In 1982 she married Charley Schreiber, an El Capitan graduate and self-employed contractor. She has one daughter, Deven, who graduated from Christian High, and SDSU. Deven serves as an ICE agent for Homeland Security and is married to Shawn Wooddy, an El Capitan graduate and Harbor Police officer. In May, they welcomed their first daughter, Madeleine Grace. Priscilla and her family attend Shadow Mountain Community Church. Priscilla's business background is in construction accounting and office management. She's worked for local contractors and developers since graduating from Clairemont High School in 1971. Priscilla acquired trade school certification in construction accounting and took classes in office skills and floral design at the districts' Foothills Adult School. It was in 1998 that Priscilla took an active interest in the Grossmont Union High School District, when she, alongside community leaders, legislators, Pastors and parents, joined in a huge recall endeavor. Priscilla and her husband donated, significantly, to that effort. It was her work ethic that impressed those she partnered with, so much so, they asked her to run for the Board in 2000. Priscilla ran for a seat and has successfully retained her position on the board ever since. In her first term, Priscilla completed her California School Boards Association's (CSBA) "Masters In Governance" certification. This program, through a series of workshops, is designed to support school board members in their roles on a governance team. In her first term, Priscilla was recognized by her peers at CSBA's "Honoring Our Own" annual dinner, as "Rookie School Board Member of the Year." Later that year she was honored by Assemblyman, Jay La Suer, as his "2004 Woman of the Year." She went on to win a second term in 2004. In 2007, Priscilla was recognized for her commitment to excellence in education when local school board members elected her to the CSBA Delegate Assembly for a two-year term. Priscilla continues to serve as delegate assembly member. This delegation represents school board members in San Diego and Sacramento on educational policy issues. Priscilla was elected as Board President that year and along with fellow Board member Larry Urdahl, they convened the Bond Advisory Commission and the Third Party Review of the Bond Program, both reports are posted at http://www.guhsd.net Under Schreiber and Urdahl's leadership they expanded the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC), a need, they'd been pushing since 2004 upon the passage of the Prop H facilities bond. The expansion from 7 to 11 members was necessary to help support the important work of the CBOC and our commitment to the taxpayers. Schreiber and Urdahl introduced policy whereby organizations would recommend appointments to the CBOC to ensure it would be an independent committee. Priscilla has always encouraged governance standards for the board in setting a clear direction for the district. Under her leadership, all agenda items must be supported by a goal or objective of the district's strategic plan. Maintaining financial integrity, rigorous academic standards, career technical education, and a strong work ethic along with character education are her top priorities. Priscilla has served on many committees on behalf of the board and the district; the Finance & Audit Committee, The Curriculum Steering Committee, The Calendar Committee, (SEED) Supporting Education & Economic Development Committee and The Bond Subcommittee. Priscilla is very involved with other community organizations such as the Cajon Valley Republican Business Women Federated Club, the Boys and Girls Clubs of East County, "We the People" and Center for Public Policy competitions, and the Women Volunteers in Politics (VIPs). Priscilla works diligently with East County organizations, community leaders, and businesses to improve opportunities for all students. In 2011, Priscilla was honored to be nominated for the Chamber's "Women In Leadership" Education award. Priscilla has received endorsements from Congressman Duncan D. Hunter, Supervisor Dianne Jacob, Assemblyman Brian Jones..., please see full list provided on this website. |
