This information is provided by the candidate

Current Board Member, 12 years experience, Districts' representative Finance Committee and Heartland Communications Commission. I am a Fire Captain/Paramedic with Heartland Fire Rescue and a 29 year Fire Service veteran serving the East County communities. I have been a District resident since 1990.

Property tax refunds and the state of the economy these past 5-6 years have eliminated several million dollars of our operating revenues. This has made it challenging to provide you, our residents; with the exceptional level of Fire and EMS protection we are accustomed to receiving. In light of the revenue loss, I am committed to work with existing tax dollars to provide the best protection possible.

I have made tough, but necessary decisions, voting to significantly cut pay and benefits from top to bottom. We are currently exploring changes that would save $2-3 million tax dollars annually. Plans are in place for the long-term fiscal stability of our Fire District.

I am honored to be your representative on this Board. I have been happily married 26 years, 3 children (Naval Academy Grad, 1 in college, 1 Senior H.S.). Additionally, I am a U.S. Navy Veteran, member of Christ Lutheran Church, La Mesa, USS Midway volunteer and a private pilot.

Thank you for your vote.
