Ballot Statement

November 6, 2012 Election

Kelli Moors, Board President

Carlsbad Unified School District

I am a proven leader. My commitment to our students has resulted in academic excellence, fiscal responsibility and taxpayer accountability.

Academic excellence: Carlsbad's students are achieving at high levels. Each of our schools has been deemed "high-performing" by the State. The high school graduation rate is one of the highest in California, with most students heading to college.

Fiscal Responsibility: I have watched our finances carefully and made tough choices. Under my leadership, balanced budgets have been maintained each year. Despite the difficult economy, our students have excellent teachers, modern technology and safe campuses.

Taxpayer Accountability: Voters approved Proposition P in 2006 and I have ensured that funds have been spent wisely. All building projects have been completed on time and on budget. Carlsbad High School has been beautifully re-built and Sage Creek, our newest high school, is set to open in Fall 2013.

Proven leadership is needed as economic challenges continue and educational expectations increase. It has been an honor to serve the families of Carlsbad Unified. I ask for your vote to continue this important work.
