Commitment to Liberty:

Many will say that constitutional concerns are "non-issues" in local politics- stating that Federal and State elections must remain focused on these challenges alone. Liberties outlined in the U.S Constitution are equally important on our most local level of government and must be vigorously defended. The Constitution and Bill of Rights are quite clear with outlining our rights to liberty and justice. My pledge to defend liberty from those who wish to "do violence against our Constitution" is unwavering. I am a self-described Constitutionalist and an advocate of limited government interference. Small business, property ownership and individualism prosper when government abstains from harassing its citizenry. Concerns with constitutionality should never be dismissed at any level.

Further Government Transparency:

An open, honest and inclusive local government is essential to the progress and the success of our City. With so many local, State and even Federal officials failing to reach the American people, let San Marcos serve as an example for progress and change.

Taxpayer Advocate:

For many years the taxpayer has been endangered by Sacramento Politicians' unwillingness to make difficult budgetary decisions- leading the state into record debt. This harsh economic climate has posed a challenge to communities completing expensive, long-term projects. I strongly oppose tax increases for the sake of political expedience and will look to the long-term effects on taxpayers before supporting cross-generational bond commitments. As a fiscal conservative I am critical of supporting bond measures, as they can be a potential threat to homeowners and businesses.

As a candidate for City Council, I will strive to defend the taxpayer from the worst elements of government. Reckless spending penalizes the taxpayer, who inevitably suffers the consequences. I pledge to stand with the taxpayer against such spending, representing their best interests through fiscal conservatism. Small Businesses, Homeowners and Consumers all deserve sound leadership and protection from the hazards of taxation.

Traffic Congestion:

Traffic has quickly become the biggest concern for residents; San Marcos has often been branded with "the worst traffic in North County." As San Marcos expands, so does the impact of our existence. Even off-peak traffic times prove to be a challenge for transportation. Recent efforts to synchronize traffic lights and expand local roadways have helped to alleviate part of the problem. A continued effort of traffic control and neighborhood involvement, with a mindful consideration of growth within our means, can stave off this growing problem.

As a current Commissioner on the Traffic and Safety Commission for San Marcos, I have an increased sensitivity to this growing problem. Through carefully listening to residents and communicating with city staff to address problems, I have worked to be a part of San Marcos' traffic solution. If elected to City Council, I will continue to take a personal investment in conquering this growing challenge.

Public Safety:

I strongly believe that we must aid our law enforcement and fire departments through community partnership and responsible allocation of resources. Our community must work with law enforcement on critical issues; such as theft, vandalism and neighborhood gang activity. Public safety should be one of our most valued concerns and the responsibility shared by the community.
