Campaign Statement

By Tom Fleming

Candidate for Council Member; City of Vista

This information is provided by the candidate
My agenda is I have No Agenda. I intend to bring a level of Honor and Integrity to the Vista City Council. It is my intention to listen to all sides of an issue and make a decision based on Common Sense and what is Best for the Citizens of Vista.
I have been the Owner of One Day Shoe Repair located in Downtown Vista for 28 Years. I was on the Board of Directors of the Vista Village Business Association for about 15 years and President of that Board for 5 years. I am a member of the Vista Planning Commission. This has given me a real feel for my fellow Vista citizens and an opportunity for them to know me and my Core Values: Dedication to Faith, Family and Country. My reputation is as an Honest Man of common sense and integrity. This history has led me to believe I need to take my Common Sense and Personal Values to City Hall.
The Fire Department and Sheriff Deputies are how we will maintain safety and security. We must maintain the highest quality men and women in these positions while remaining within budget restraints. The Public Works Department provides for our infrastructure by maintaining our streets, sewers and miscellaneous repairs. The Parks and Recreation Department provides for our well-being through our parks, arts and educational opportunities. My agenda is I have No Agenda. The Public Works Department provides for our infrastructure by maintaining our streets, sewers and miscellaneous repairs. The Parks and Recreation Department provides for our well-being through our parks, arts and educational opportunities. In order to accomplish these things it is necessary to have a Balanced Budget. We must always remember where revenues come from, you the citizens of Vista. We must make sure Every Single Dollar is used in the most efficient manner possible. In order to expand our economic base we must work very closely with our business community. Every effort must be made to minimize regulations and streamline the permitting process. The goal should always be to make Vista the most business friendly City in Southern California. The image of the Council must be of Honest Integrity. The key items businesses look at when they are considering a move to a new location are what the city government is like, what is their reputation and can they be trusted to keep their word. I have earned the reputation as a man of character who is Honest and Trustworthy. That is why I and others believe I am the best choice to be your next City Councilman.
