North County resident Steve Danon is a candidate for the County of San Diego's Third Supervisorial District. For more than twenty years, Steve has been fighting side-by-side with our local officials, public safety organizations and local businesses to improve the quality of life of North County residents.

After successfully serving as Vice President of the Porter Novelli International, an international public relations firm, Steve created his own local small business, Benedetto and Danon Public Relations (BDPR). BDPR was a boutique public relations firm working with businesses on information technology, healthcare, environment, public safety and housing issues.

Working with the Deputy Sheriffs' Association, Steve helped spearhead the effort to secure funds and the location for our regional Law Enforcement Memorial to pay tribute to those peace officers killed in the line of duty. And, he worked tirelessly to assist in securing a new school for T.E.R.I., The Teaching, Education and Research Institute, a school for autistic children. Leading a coalition of community organizations against the closure of the UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest, Steve fought to ensure working families would not lose their access to healthcare.

Steve's firm was the principal in Congressman Bilbray's comeback to Congress in 2006, where he was appointed Congressman Bilbray's Chief of Staff. In that position, Steve worked tirelessly to save the War Memorial on Mt. Soledad, provide clean-drinking water by cleaning up Lake Hodges, improve water testing standards to clean up our beaches and worked alongside Congressman Bilbray to stop amnesty for 12-20 million illegal immigrants.

Earlier in his career, Steve also served as Chief of Staff to County Supervisor Ron Roberts where he drafted the legislation (Board Letter) to ban campaign contributions from registered lobbyists. He worked with Supervisor Roberts to secure the County's first Fire Fighting Helicopter. In addition, he assisted in creating "Critical Hours," an after-school program to keep our children off the street and out of trouble.

Throughout the years, Steve has been actively involved in our community by serving on the board of directors and/or served the following organizations:

-California Coastal Coalition
-San Diegans Against Crime
-San Diego County Taxpayers Association
-San Diego Repertory Theatre
-Partnerships With Industry (an organization that empowers those with physical and mental challenges find work with business)
-Lincoln Club of San Diego County
-American Lung Association of San Diego/Imperial County
-Coached in the Carmel Valley Youth Baseball League
-Financial Task Force, Del Mar Unified School District

Steve is a graduate of San Diego State University and he resides in Carmel Valley with his wife, two children and two dogs.
