1.To bring to the Board a strong voice for parents and the community. 2.To further build upon the level of academic excellence that has been achieved in this District and that has brought state and national recognition to our schools, particularly as the State continues to cut budgets. 3.To support faculty and staff in their efforts to successfully close the achievement gap that exists for our under-represented students. 4.To continue the efforts to provide ever increasing choices and opportunities for all learning styles in a wide variety of subjects (equal access to honors courses, expanded Career Technical Education offerings, on-line classes, expanded elective and core course offerings). 5.To ensure that the District equips our students with the strong fundamental skills needed for lifelong learning, arming them with the necessary tools to tackle the complexities of the 21st century. 6.To provide leadership in achieving the goals of the District's Education Plan in line with the Stategic Plan. 7.To find creative, alternate solutions, within existing budget constraints, to avoid program cuts, to restore areas that have been lost to funding limits, and to champion the addition of innovative programs that maximize our limited resources. 8.To work at the state level for the release of funds to our District, with an eye toward restoration of lost revenues and fulfillment of Proposition 98 guarantees. 9.To diligently monitor the allocation of the valuable and limited funds available to the District. 10.To make certain that all District schools continue to receive equal resources. 11.To extend the partnership programs that exist between the schools and the business /scientific community to include further commitment of resources to our District. 12.To apply my extensive background, experience, time, energy, and problem solving skills to tackling District-wide issues. |
