Political Philosophy for Kristine C. (Christensen) Alessio
Candidate for |

La Mesa needs consistent leadership to continue thriving. As a mom with a child in our schools and business person, I believe my experience and vision will be an asset to the Council. I have lived in La Mesa 20 years and in San Diego County my entire life. My goals are to maintain La Mesa's fiscal health and stability and ensure La Mesa retains a family-friendly character. I want La Mesa to have a thriving business environment, safe neighborhoods and clean parks. A city that our children enjoy growing up in and where they will want to stay. As a longtime member of the La Mesa Planning Commission experienced in zoning and land use matters I am uniquely qualified to assess the development projects which will influence our city for generations. I also have years of experience in various community volunteer positions, ranging from the President of the Grossmont-Mt. Helix Improvement Association to being a member of the Lemon Avenue Elementary PTA Board. Whether it is visiting residents of La Mesa's skilled nursing facilities as part of the Pet Therapy program, or participating in activities related to my daughter's attendance at schools in the La-Mesa Spring Valley School District, I am part of the community and I care about the issues that you, the voter, care about. I am firmly committed to transparency in government. Working together to resolve issues which face our City and always being open and accessible to all citizens. Land use decisions, maintaining public safety services, continuing a great working relationship with the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, fostering an appreciation of the arts through the La Mesa Arts Alliance and also local junior theater groups are things I will strive for as a member of the City Council. I also believe in the continuing duty of the City to serve its seniors through the work of the Adult Enrichment Center and will continue to promote the interests of seniors in La Mesa. I am not part of any special interest group, I do not have any pet projects in La Mesa, rather, I am running for City Council to represent all citizens and to ensure that La Mesa maintains its status as the Jewel of the Hills. |
