Occupation: Teacher
Age: 45
Education and Qualifications:
I have a lifelong commitment to education, including experience teaching at the secondary and university levels and volunteering in preschool and elementary classrooms. As a teacher and a parent, I know all students can succeed. We cannot accept anything less.

While SCUSD has some programs that allow all students to achieve their full potential, we need to expand these programs so all students can benefit. With our district in program improvement status, we must take action now. Our children do not have time to wait.

While our district faces financial challenges, we still can find ways to improve programs and services for all students. We need teachers, parents, students, administrators and officials to work collaboratively together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children.

As a math teacher with a Ph.D. from UC-Santa Cruz in History and teaching credentials in Mathematics, Biology, Social Studies, and English, I am deeply experienced in the classroom-level work required to improve the skills of low-achieving students and to challenge those who are high performing.

Please vote for fiscal responsibility, administrative accountability, support for teachers, narrowing the achievement gap, and transparency in governance.

Please vote for Dr. Michele Ryan. http://www.ryan4board.com
