Measure G Bond ProgramBy Jim PollartCandidate for Board Member; Mountain View-Whisman School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Oversight of 10 year school modernization programLast year Mountain View voters passed Measure G, a $198 million bond program that will be upgrade and modernize our classrooms and school facilities over the next 10 years. Measure G is an enormous modernization program, total expenditures will equal roughly $40,000 per student. Measure G will touch all of our school sites and facilities. I am a licensed civil engineer with 24 years of professional experience in the property development and construction business. I am also a member of the MVLA high school district Measure A Citizen's Oversight Committee, where I've served over the last 2 years to oversee that $41 million Measure A school modernization program. The Measure G funds are public money; the bonds will be repaid over 30 years from local property taxes. If elected, I will use my experience to ensure Measure G funds are spent wisely and efficiently, so that we get maximum value for our property tax dollars. I will also push for a full public outreach process, so our community has a say on how our school facilities are upgraded and modernized. |
