Smart Voter Official Statement for Pat Burt

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Palo Alto

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Founder and CEO, high technology company
Age: 60
Education and Qualifications:
University of California, Santa Barbara; four years on Palo Alto City Council, Mayor in 2010; nine years on Palo Alto Planning and Transportation Commission, twice chair; five years as a neighborhood group leader; 15 years on regional and state environmental commissions.

As a Councilmember, I have brought onboard strong new executive leadership, championed improvements to our streets and bikeways, and launched a strategic infrastructure repair plan. I have worked successfully to streamline our local government and to reform our employee pensions and benefits. I have advocated a responsible rail plan for the Peninsula that safeguards our community and negotiated for a well-considered development of the new Stanford Hospital.

With your help, I would like to finish the work I've begun: to make our city government leaner and more efficient through financial reform; to maintain our exceptional city services and quality of life; to prepare our community well for emergencies; and to promote an environmentally sustainable city with a dynamic economy.
