Jon and his wife moved to Los Altos in 1997, restored a City landmark and made it a home for their growing family. Their children attended Los Altos' outstanding public schools their daughter now attends Boston College and their son is at Los Altos High School; both previously attended Covington and Egan. Daughter served on Youth Commission for 3 years while attending Los Altos High School. Community Service Planning & Transportation Commission, 2012-Present Planning Commission 2007-2012, Chair 2011-12, 2009-10 Actively participated in the review and approval of numerous new residential and commercial projects including Safeway, Los Altos Gardens, Packard Foundation, 396 First Street (old Adobe Animal Hospital), 100 First Street (old Post Office), Pilgrim Haven, 240 Third Street, One Main Street (hotel), Los Altos Garden Supply. Architecture and Site Review subcommittee 2007-9, Chair 2008-9 Board of Adjustments subcommittee 2010-11 Downtown Development Committee 2008-10 The Los Altos City Council formed the Downtown Development Committee. The committee created easy-to-use downtown design guidelines as well as evaluated a number of alternatives for increasing parking and recommended zoning changes. Community Center Advisory Committee 2008-9 The committee worked with staff and an architectural design firm to draft facilities requirements and a conceptual layout of buildings (and costs) for a renovated community center which would include City Hall, new police facilities and a senior center. 2000 Los Altos General Plan Update Los Altos Neighborhood Traffic Advisory Task Force 1998-2001 Treasurer and Board member, Los Altos Neighborhood Network 2005-Present Trustee, MVLA High School Foundation Endowment Trust 2011-Present Los Altos High School Science and Technology Week committee 2011 Business Career Began career at a startup based on research developed within Exxon Corporation in 1978 Worked for 7 years at Exxon Enterprises in variety of new business evaluation, corporate development roles Managed R&D investment portfolio for Prudential Securities General Partner at Oscco Ventures, one of the pioneering (established 1962) Sand Hill Road venture funds Founder and initial CEO of two venture-backed companies, one a spin-out from SRI International Founded Threshold Ventures, a venture consultancy to help startups.
