Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Norman Meek

Candidate for
Director; Mojave Water Agency; Division 3

This information is provided by the candidate

I recently served on the Board of Directors of the Crestline-Lake Arrowhead Water Agency (CLAWA) for 11 years. I resigned my seat when I moved to the High Desert, and now I would like to use my experience to guide the Mojave Water Agency. For example, at CLAWA, water rates have not increased since 1992. Moreover, we installed emergency generators just prior to the Old Fire, and the backup system helped save the mountain communities when the power supply was lost. During my tenure, the quality of CLAWA water improved dramatically with the addition of a charcoal cleansing system. Simply speaking, I can use my lengthy experience with these sorts of issues to benefit the High Desert.

I am employed as a professor and chair of the Geography and Environmental Studies Department at CSUSB where I teach about water and conservation. Also, years ago I wrote my dissertation at UCLA about the Mojave River system, so I would start with advanced knowledge of water issues in the desert region. My primary goal will be to control costs to avoid any rate increases. If you want an experienced leader on water issues, vote for Norman Meek.
