My name is Shawn Hubbard and I am running for Victorville City Council.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page and for your interest in my candidacy. First, I have been married for nearly 14 years to my wife April, and we have three children. Back in 2001, seeking a higher standard of living, I moved to the high desert to take advantage of what it offered. Less crowded schools, more affordable home prices and friendlier communities appealed to my wife and I. We both desired a better quality of life for our children and the kind of community ties only a smaller city can provide.

My background is in law enforcement and transportation, two areas of expertise that would benefit this city tremendously. Nine years of my life were spent in the law enforcement realm. I hold an Associates of Science degree from Victor Valley College, a Paralegal certificate from Barclay College and graduated successfully from the Orange County Sheriff's Academy, Class 132. In addition to working as a police officer, I supervised security operations for Citibank, Bank of America and many other clients. In 2000, I entered the transportation sector and met with equal success. When Federal Express began operating their Home Delivery Division in Southern California, I was approached by their management to service five zip codes in the Santa Monica area. In 2003, I left Fedex to start my own trucking company and contracted with Interstate Distribution and Landstar Ranger.

Over the years, I have received multiple commendations for integrity and honesty. As a public safety sergeant at Loyola Marymount University, my observations and investigation led to the arrest and removal of several fellow officers who were participating in a theft ring. In the last few years, the State of California has recognized me for Community Service and the County of Los Angeles commended me as a good Samaritan. In 2010, I was chosen as a national representative of the transportation industry, winning the Truckload Carriers Association "Highway Angel of the Year" award for rescuing a man who was trapped in a burning car along the 60 freeway in Diamond Bar.

My desire to help others and a proven record of integrity makes me the right choice for the Victorville City Council. I intend to listen to my constituents and to base my decisions on what's best for the residents of Victorville, not to further my own goals. With your support, Victorville can thrive and become a vibrant, model city for other cities to emulate.
