Biography

Born July 1968, in Santa Cruz, CA.

I have been a resident of Sacramento County for over 35 years. Both my mother and grandmother retired from the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD) after many, many years as dedicated public school educators. My partner Tamie and I attended public Sacramento Schools for K through 12th grade, and my daughter Andee, who received her Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy from Mills College in 2011, also attended Sacramento City public schools throughout 1st through 12th grade. I am an avid volunteer in my community of College Greens and throughout the County. I've lead a crew of volunteers to build a children's playground, worked with various homeless services organizations- including Loaves & Fishes and the Sacramento Housing Alliance and really enjoyed volunteering my time with Sacramento Habitat for Humanity to build homes in Oak Park. I also volunteer as a member of the 'Brush Crew' for the Strawberry Music Festival in Hetch-Hetchy Valley twice annually. I am a member of the Democratic Party of Sacramento County Central Committee and serve as the Ex-Officio Representative of CA Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones.

Professional- I am enjoying a fulfilling career as the Head Gardener for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). I am foreman of a crew of 10 Utility Workers and am responsible for the 900 square miles of substation and related facility's landscape design, renovation and maintenance.
