Community Preparedness

A community that is well trained in the different CPR, AED and First Aid methods is a community ready to respond to anything! Lawson, who used to teach CPR and First Aid for the American Red Cross, is eager to encourage programs that will require different employers in the area to train their employees in these live-saving skills so they can respond quickly to emergencies they encounter. Furthermore, he will work to extend these programs to the community in order to ensure that anyone can learn these skills and use them to save a life.

Fire Prevention

The City of Sacramento Fire Department does an excellent job working as our contracted provider of services to the district. However, it would seem that the district has been forgotten when it comes to fire prevention. The best service a Fire District can provide is not only the provision of ready to go firefighters and fire vehicles to fight fire, but also the prevention of the fire in the first place. Lawson plans to work for a better fire prevention program that would actively seek to prevent the different fire emergencies from happening in the first place.

Board Involvement

Just because our fire services have been contracted out to the City FD, we cannot afford to not involve the Pacific-Fruitridge Fire District Board in the community so they may appropriately represent the citizens of the district and meet their needs in a timely and efficient manner. A community that knows its board and handles the different issues they may have through it would benefit together. Lawson believes that government of any kind, no matter how small, should be transparent and highly visible to those they serve.

Public Safety

As a part of the Public Safety community of the district, Lawson would also work to encourage that the other services of public safety are improved within the area. High crime rates do lead to more arson fires, so stepping over to advocate for the community in this regard is not unheard of and would be one of Lawson's top priorities. A safe community where residents can raise their children free from certain fears is the number one reason why Lawson is running.
