Delrae Pope for School Board

By Delrae Pope

Candidate for Board Member; Center Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
I am a long time resident of Antelope and active in community service to the school district. I organize fund raising events to support athletic and cheer programs. I am running for school board because I am unhappy with the district's financial situation and plan to introduce new creative funding solutions.
I am a parent of three children who have attended Oak Hill Elementary, Riles Middle School, and Center High School. I have spent three years with Center's endowment working to bring money into the district and am well aware of the tremendous impact on our students due to California's financial crisis. I also served on the newly formed Superintendent's Advisory Committee.

My goal is to assure students have the opportunity to receive a well-rounded and enhanced education by striving to reinstate funding elements that have been cut from our district such as class size reduction, performing/visual arts, and athletics. Seeking resources beyond state funding will ensure we provide the best possible education for our students.

Our students deserve the opportunity to be successful and achieve their maximum potential to be productive, engaged, and effective citizens in our community. I believe my experience is needed if we intend to do what is best for students, employees, and taxpayers.

I would be honored to have your vote and respectfully ask for it.
