Patrick Kennedy is a fourth generation Sacramentan who serves on the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education, representing the Oak Park, City Farms, Hollywood Park, Lawrence Park, Fruitridge, and the Med Center neighborhoods. In addition to his service on the Sacramento City School Board, Patrick is a private practice attorney and public affairs representative. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento History Foundation and the Historic California Governor's Mansion Foundation. Patrick is the host of Forum + Sacramento's Digital Town Square, a bi-weekly podcast that focuses on what makes Sacramento unique and a great place to live (http://www.forumtownsquare.com). He also publishes a blog with his daughter Chelsea (http://www.eatingfranklinblvd.com) chronicling their food journey down Franklin Boulevard, one of Sacramento's most interesting and often forgotten thoroughfares. In 1993 Sacramento Mayor Joe Serna, Jr. appointed Patrick to the Sacramento City Planning Commission where he served until 2004. Prior to this, he served on the Oak Park Project Area Committee. Patrick's long record of involvement in his neighborhoods includes service as President of the Oak Park Neighborhood Improvement Association, founding president of the Hollywood Park Neighborhood Association, member of the Sacramento RT District South Sacramento Citizens' Advisory Committee, member of the UCD Med Center Expansion Advisory Board and member of the McClellan AFB Reuse Planning Team. He has also served on a number of non profit boards, including the Sacramento Heritage, Sacramento Self Help Housing and the Health Project. Among others, Patrick is endorsed by the Democratic Party of Sacramento County, the Sacramento Central Labor Council, former Mayors Anne Rudin and Heather Fargo, County Supervisor Phil Serna and seven current sitting City Council Members. Patrick and his wife Judy, an artist and teacher, raised four daughters through the Sacramento public school system. They share their Hollywood Park home with the youngest of their four daughters, Sinead (21) and Chelsea (20), as well as Fiona (a miniature Dachshund), Clancy (an Irish Setter) Etcetera (an ornery Siamese cat) and Hillary, Michelle and Eleanor (hens). |
