Promote student success and address the achievement gapBy Ryan HercheCandidate for Board Member; Natomas Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We must promote equal and quality access to education.Rescue students from our schools that are stuck in Program Improvement. Consider every available option (reorganization, staff replacement, new curricula or charter conversion) to restore student achievement. Allow parents and trained volunteers to freely access school sites and coordinate their volunteer work. Review and apply the conclusions of the California P-16 Council to address our achievement gap. Examine district test results to reallocate resources for the best results. Reform the zero-based grading system. Protect the right of parents to make choices about their children's education. Budget cuts have devastated our after-school programs, but we can help bridge the shortfall with faith-based partnerships and non-profits. Creative and aggressive support of our PTSAs and booster clubs is crucial to strengthen parent involvement. Engage with local platforms like Tutor Hunt, a free service to connect students with private tutors. |
