Measure N

Measure N is a local school measure that benefits every child and every school in the San Juan Unified School District. It will modernize classrooms, replace and repair aging portables and increase the energy efficiency of our schools.

I have seen the significant improvements here in Citrus Heights from Measure J funds which were passed in 2002. All the modernization of portables and additions of Multi Purpose Rooms at our elementary schools, the addition of the Gym and Library at Mesa Verde High School, the upgrades at San Juan High School, including the new Culinary Arts Academy classroom and restaurant building, new administration "Front Door" building and landscape, Multimedia Academy building, classroom wings and upgrades to the largest Auditorium in the district.

The District has a number of projects "shovel ready." What that means is they have been programmed, designed and approve by the State. What they lack is funding. The state does not provide facilities funding at the level required to maintain and improve our schools. The completion of the 21st Century Classroom upgrades at San Juan High School is just one of the important project in line for funding.

This measure helps our local community with the creations of local jobs. Contractors, laborers, suppliers and vendors know that this will have a positive impact on the local economy. It will fund project such as paving, electrical and technology upgrades, energy efficient lighting, heating and air conditioning, repair of aging water and sewer system.

Future project slated for Citrus Heights schools are the rebuilding of Sylvan Middle School and replacing the portables with permanent classroom buildings at Kingswood, Lichen, Skycrest, Cambridge Heights and Citrus Heights elementary schools.
