Canyon Lake is a unique place to live with great natural beauty, a special quality of life, and a safe environment.
Living in Canyon Lake is a privilege. We must preserve our quality of life, our public safety record, and our water quality. Our revenues come mainly from property tax and sales tax. In the Towne Center, we can increase the customer base by improving the appearance of the center, upgrading the signage, and encouraging more retail shops than services. Our lake needs attention to decrease phosphorus, nitrogen and chlorophyll A, and increase dissolved oxygen. The first stage begins in 2012 with water treatment to reduce phosphorus. We are seeking funding for a HOS system to oxygenate the Main Lake. By 2020, we must meet EPA targets. We have recently signed a four year fire contract and have a police contract that is year-to-year. While we want to maintain a high level of service, our declining revenues will make it challenging to maintain those levels without reducing coverage. This November 12, we will celebrate our fourth Veterans Day Celebration. We erected a beautiful granite monument to honor our veterans and active duty service members. We will be adding to the 472 commemorative bricks that make up the pentagon surrounding the monument. Each brick honors an individual who has served or is currently serving our country. We honor their sacrifice.
