I currently serve on the Airport Board, this year as Board President, and have been the President of the Truckee Donner Land Trust the last two years. I am committed to addressing the current challenges facing our airport and our total region. I support both planned growth and the preservation of our outstanding quality of life. I am asking for your vote to re-elect me based on our track record of accomplishments.
In the last few years the numbers of complaints from the community have been reduced over 500%. We have rejuvenated or replaced both runways and all paved surfaces, built a new fuel facility, improved emergency medevac capabilities, built a new administration building with community use rooms, and have returned the Air Fair to our community. To reduce noise and annoyance we acquired significant open space. To improve safety, given no radar here, we acquired a state of the art flight tracking system.
But there is more to do. We have begun a new master plan that will produce a balanced 10 year strategic vision for the airport supporting the many interests of our region. We must continue strong fiscal oversight of district expenditures and your tax dollars. We must do more to reduce noise and annoyance while being responsive to the aviation needs of our region.
I take a comprehensive view of the concerns facing our region. Pilot needs, safety, noise abatement, emergency responsiveness, capital improvements, physical plant maintenance, operating standards, environmental impact, and fiscal prudence are of importance to the entire region. The needs of community groups, youth, full and part-time residents, local businesses, and airport users and customers all need to be fairly represented.
