I am running for the Truckee Tahoe Airport District again because I want to continue the positive direction we have established. In the last four years we've acquired more open space to protect flight corridors. We constructed a new Administration Building when the economy stalled; 58 percent of that work ($4.35 million) was provided by local vendors. We developed an engineering-based Pavement Management Plan that will help us better maintain our runways and taxiways. And we are initiating a Master Planning process that will define the type of airport that we want (and do not want) to be. I want to be part of that process. I want to assure we make every effort to hear the opinions of all residents, aviators and stakeholders in our region. That is what I stand for. I want to assure that the broader community voice remains a part of airport decision-making. I believe it is critical to maintain a community-focused Board that will continue to balance the needs of aviators with the needs of our entire regional constituency. We currently have two very capable pilots on the Board as well as a staff with significant aviation experience. These voices are well-represented in decisions the Board makes. Yet we need to continue our successful governance of looking outward, not just skyward. This is best accomplished by electing individuals who bring diverse talents and perspectives to the Board. |
