Smart Voter Full Biography for Ramona Cruz

Candidate for
Board Member; North Tahoe Public Utility District; Seat 5

This information is provided by the candidate

My qualifications are sound. I'm a Certified Public Accountant and currently hold the position of Director of Accounting and Employee Services at Tahoe City Public Utility District. I have worked in local government for over 18 years addressing water, sewer, and recreational issues and understand the challenges that can jeopardize the balance between governance and community needs.

The NTPUD plays an important role in our community. It has an important bearing on daily life and is often perceived as the "town government". Though not legislatively charged with the many aspects of what it takes to run a town, it is the only locally organized and functioning government. It must be many things to many people and address growing concerns by working cooperatively with community, business, private, and public organizations with a shared common vision.

I support the following:

  • Smart governance and building cooperative and long lasting relationships with all who live, work, and recreate in our community
  • NTPUD's efforts and strides replacing and maintaining infrastructure and continuing to build capital reserves
  • "At large elections" that would do away with "seats" so the top vote getters are elected
  • Late afternoon Board meetings allowing more public participation
  • Revitalization of recreation I ask for your vote on November 6, 2012 and welcome calls 775-745-7061
