I have been a resident of Yorba Linda for 36 years and have been actively involved with city government for 22 years. I am a former Board Member of Yorba Linda Residents for Responsible Representation (YLRRR) and worked with many residents on the success of Measure BB, abolishing eminent domain abuse and was instrumental in the passage of Measure Y, the Ethics Ordinance. I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up on a Navajo Indian Reservation, graduating from Window Rock High School, Fort Defiance, Arizona. I earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arizona State University and was a member of the Sun Devil Marching and Symphonic Bands. Following graduation, I served as a Christian Volunteer in the Thailand through the Presbyterian Church as an English Teacher for a year at Wattana Wittaya Academy and Jane Hayes Memorial School. Upon my return to the States, I taught three years at International Montessori and have spent the last 32 years as a Business Executive in the transportation industry. I have represented the City Council at the Orange County Fire Authority, OCFA's Business and Finance Committee and the Yorba Linda Water District for 4 years. I am Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) trained. In 2009, I served on the committee to develop the Yorba Linda Public Library Strategic Ten Year Plan. I am the editor and publisher of Yorba Linda E-News, a weekly newsletter supporting city businesses and community groups. I have one son, Christopher, and three grandchildren. |
