Political Philosophy for James A. Najera
Candidate for |

Major Issues facing Fullerton Joint Union High School District: Impact of California tax initiative failing: Estimated per student decrease from $441/ADA to $507/ADA or $7.2million decrease Result: District deficit spends over $12 million in 2012-2013. Reserves drop from $19.4million to $7.7 (60% decline) in one year. The $7.2millon potential reduction is managed through reserve depletion ($3.6M) and teacher compensation reduction($3.6M) Result: potential combination of: 2 more furlough days; increased student teacher ratios; teacher layoffs and reduced teacher salaries. There is a better way to manage our taxpayers' entrusted resources other than spending more than we are given, laying off teachers, increasing class sizes and reducing our students' school year. I will commit to voting in favor of smaller class sizes and adding more instructional days-not less. If you share this vision with me - if you share this hope with me - I ask for your vote on November 6. |
