October 11, 2012: What is the best use of the City's remaining landfill mitigation funds?

Brea is a great place to live, in part due to our outstanding infrastructure and amenities such as the Civic Center, Sports Park, and Community Center. We now have the opportunity to further improve our city using the landfill mitigation funds. However, it is not up to five Council Members alone to decide the best use of these funds. We must ask city residents: What Next? It's time for a public engagement project that asks residents what they want. By reengaging the community, we will continue Brea's tradition of listening to residents and enhance our reputation as a premiere city.

September 27, 2012: What is the most important issue facing Brea and how would you deal with it?

General Fund expenditures are increasing faster than revenues, the bulk of which we don't directly control. To maintain Brea's quality services in the future, I will consider creative ways to increase business investment in Brea, which will increase revenue without raising taxes. In addition, I will work with my colleagues to control costs. Potential opportunities exist with further pension reform; expansion of shared services to police and maintenance as well as fire; outsourcing; and employee compensation. My commitment to voters is to use Brea's resources + the taxes we all pay + as efficiently and effectively as possible.
