Statement of Qualifications

Candidate Statement presented in the Orange County Registrar of Voter's Voter Guide.

Over the years, I have worked diligently, as parent and Trustee, to improve our local public schools. Previous work experience in public administration and the private financial sector have strengthened my ability to work with diverse groups to solve complex problems.

Throughout California's budget crisis, as Delegate to the California School Boards Association, Masters in Governance graduate and attendee at numerous Legislative Action and Education Conferences, I've worked effectively to enhance school safety, curriculum and facilities, to restructure staffing, and to positively affect education-related legislation while maintaining SVUSD's fiscal solvency.

All parents want quality education for their children. As taxpayers we deserve assurance our education dollars are being spent effectively and judiciously. I'll continue to emphasize multiple academic alternatives, expectations for outstanding achievement, safety, fiscal responsibility, and accountability.

Our community possesses the essential elements for academic distinction and continued success: children of supportive parents; quality teachers, administrators and support staff; and outstanding facilities.

Given the opportunity, I will continue to ensure that our entire community benefits from excellence in our schools.
