Candidate for
Mayor; City of Irvine

I've been honored to serve as your City Councilmember during years of extraordinary progress for Irvine. Now, I'm running for Mayor to keep our City moving forward.

When I was last Mayor of Irvine (2000-2004), I promised to defeat the El Toro Airport and put Irvine on a positive path to become "America's Safest, Smartest, and Greenest City." I kept my promise.

Safest City -- According to FBI statistics, Irvine has been America's safest city for 8 years in a row!

Smartest City -- I chaired the historic "Support Our Schools (SOS) Initiative -- YES on Measure BB," to provide millions of dollars in added City funding for our schools, without raising taxes.

Greenest City -- I led our City's effort to preserve open space, defeat the airport, and create the Great Park, which now draws nearly 1 million visitors annually even as new features are under construction.

I'm proud of our smart fiscal policies: balanced budgets; "rainy day" reserves; and no new taxes. We've maintained top-notch, efficient City services, and strengthened our support for Irvine seniors, youth and families.

I ask for your vote, making this pledge: As your Mayor, I will work every day to ensure that Irvine stays on a positive path that brings an even brighter future. Thank you.
