Position PaperBy Joe GrebmeierCandidate for Member, City Council; City of King City | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
What are we facing in the future.I think that King City's greatest strength as a community is its commitment to Volunteering and the willingness to help others. The largest problem facing King City is that of getting enough revenue to pay for city services. We should be open to new efficiencies and review our current revenue sources. We can start to address this issue by supporting our local business. I believe in being a good neighbor with our local cities, but King City must remain in control of its' own future.
My main issues are: 2. Supporting Local Business a. The highest return on investment in Economic Development, is to support and help to grow the business that you have now. They are our friends and neighbors, and have made a commitment to our community. Their growth helps the local economy. 3. Transparency in Government a. The community must be involved in local government. This involvement is dependent up on knowing what the current and future issues are and what your local government is doing about them. This can include broadcasting the City Council meetings; live on the Internet, using Social Media, e-mail update lists, and article in the local newspaper. b. The City needs a Strategic Plan that identifies these issues and how we propose to deal with them. This must include public input. It also needs a Capital Improvement Plan that addresses both major projects and the replacement of equipment. The budget should reflect a Programing Budget format that sets goals and accomplishments for each department. I want to "Focus on Our Future." |
