Our essential resources should be publicly owned.
Unlike any other Peninsula city, Seaside has three water providers! First, a majority of our population receives water from CalAm, and falls within the state ordered requirements to find a new water supply. Second, it has a smaller population on former Fort Ord land that uses water from Marina Coast Water District. Lastly, a city-owned mutual water company serves about 800 customers and is restricted, along with the rest of the Peninsula, by court order to reduce pumping from the Seaside Basin. Seaside will play a pivotal role with FORA development and Peninsula water dynamics. I understand the complexities and will continue to do my homework to make informed decisions to assure a safe, abundant and reasonably priced water supply.
