Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Whittier City School District

My name is Cecilia Ruiz Perez. I am a parent, wife and mother of three beautiful children. My husband, Carlos, and I have dedicated nearly a decade of our life together towards bettering the Whittier Community.

I believe our Country will secure a better future by continuing to invest taxpayer dollars responsibly in education. All our children deserve a quality education, access to technology and a safe learning environment.

With over 20 years of leadership and professional experience as former Vice President of the UFW and a founding member of the Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, I understand how to lead a successful organization, balance budgets and set goals for the future.

I take great pride in my community involvement as a founding member of the Hoover Dad's Club. I have raised money through numerous events to benefit students of the Whittier City School District, and currently serve as the 2nd Vice President of Hoover's Parent Faculty Organization.

I pledge to make our schools safe and successful for our students by

• Improving test scores and maintaining high student achievement
• Increasing parent and community participation and
• Ensuring fiscal responsibility.
