I am a lifelong advocate, activist and retired LA County Deputy Probation Officer, and I am running for one of the three seats subject to recall in the City of San Fernando's special election scheduled for Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

This election was forced upon three members of the City Council majority in May, when a committee of San Fernando residents and business owners delivered nearly 2,800 signatures, accounting for more than twenty-five percent of the City's qualified voters, to City Hall.

As a legislative assistant and field representative, I became acutely aware of the inner workings of government and importance of intergovernmental relations to solving local and regional problems.

As an independent contractor, I learned the concerns faced by small business owners, and the day-to-day challenges of keeping a business sustainable.

As a Deputy Probation Officer, I honed my ability in negotiation, understanding the law in action, and making considered decisions about the lives of others.

These are all skills I will bring to the City Council.

I am running for the office of City Councilmember to help restore integrity and good judgment to City Hall. San Fernando has serious problems that will only be resolved when we have a City Council that can work together productively, make tough decisions honorably, promote economic development, and always keep the best outcomes for our residents in mind.

We will have to make hard choices to ensure that our City remains viable during these austere times. My background and experience make me uniquely qualified to address these issues and make these tough decisions. I ask for your vote on November 6th.
