Board Member; Contra Costa Community College District; Ward 5

This information is provided by the candidate

Woolridge for Community College Board, Ward 5

It's no secret that state budget cuts have taken a toll on our education system. In addition to diminished resources, college students are facing unprecedented fee Increases. For some students these soaring costs have put an end to their dream of a college education.

We can do better! Whether you are a student on a degree path or a displaced worker looking to the Community College for job training, you should expect and receive meaningful educational and training opportunities.

My Top Priorities:

  • Save Parents and Students thousands of dollars by instituting a Digital Textbook Program (e-books).
  • Increase funding streams for reduced fee programs.
  • Secure stronger articulation agreements, so that more of the course units our students accrue will transfer over to their four year institutions and be counted.
  • Increase college participation with high schools to help students prepare and succeed in college.
  • Increase Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education, to help our students succeed in careers requiring technical and specialized education.
  • Partner with Business to bring resources to the College so we can expand much needed Career Technical Education Classes.

I am committed to working hard to improve our Community College System. I understand the college infrastructure and how to get things done. If you have any questions you can reach me at woolridge4trustee@gmail.com and I will respond to you right away. I would be honored to have your vote on November 6th, Thank you.
