Smart Voter Official Statement for Virginia Silver-Rimbach

Candidate for
Board Member; John Swett Unified School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Virginia Silver-Rimbach

My age is: 45

My occupation is: Vice President Service Delivery Consultant Education and Qualifications:

As a 14-year resident of Crockett, a daughter of teachers and mother of a 3rd grader at Rodeo Hills Elementary, I have a personal interest in the success of our schools.

Like many of you, my household participated in a poll to determine our community's interest in rebuilding our 90-year-old middle school. An overwhelming 71% of us said Yes, let's continue to improve our communities and schools, but you'll notice the bond measure to rebuild the school is not on the ballot. Three of the current members of the school board voted against even giving voters a chance to decide.

I believe that school board members need to listen to the community. If they don't, that means we need new voices and change. That's why I'm running for school board.

I have been on the John Swett Education Foundation board for the past three years. I have also been a member of the PTA since my son started kindergarten, joining its board this past year. I take my son to kung fu, soccer, Scouts, swimming, and I talk to parents in our community almost every day. I share the passion of my fellow parents for their children and our schools.

When I'm not volunteering and carting my son around to his activities, I work as a Vice President at Bank of America ensuring our technology stays compliant with changing regulations. My position requires me to bring different teams together to work toward a common goal.

My strengths in consensus building and problem resolution along with my passion for education are a perfect fit for moving our school district forward. We need board members who are engaged with our community and will value the input of our citizens. I hope you agree and vote for me. Thank you.
