Candidate for
Council Member; City of Hercules

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Hector Rubio

My age is: 52

My occupation is: Architect

Education and Qualifications:

I am a 21-year resident of the City of Hercules, and am running for City Council because I want to help solve Hercules' financial problems that had resulted in major cuts to public safety and services for residents.

I will focus on solving the lack of retail options in Hercules, which bring minimal sales tax receipts to the City's general fund. More retail through active pursuit of new businesses is the only reasonable way to reduce the City's alarming structural budget deficit.

I am a licensed Architect with 25-years of experience working on commercial and retail projects throughout the United States, with 12- years of project management experience constructing shopping centers and big-box stores.

I am prepared to lead Hercules out of its financial mess. I have strong financial management experience as a Project Manager. I earned an MBA degree in 2003 from St. Mary's College of California. I fully understand the development process through my professional work as an Architect.

Leadership, teamwork and responsiveness to community concerns are key skills that I learned from years of community service. I am Chair of the Hercules Citizens' Finance Advisory Ad-hoc Committee, a member of the Hercules Bayfront Taskforce, past-President of the St. Joseph School Board, and past-President of the Westwood Duets HOA and former Chair of its Architectural committee.

I respectfully ask for your vote on November 6, 2012.
