I am a life-long resident of Martinez. As a child, I grew up near Rankin Park, where many hours were spent in the park, at the pool or on the ball field. I have a true love for the City of Martinez, where my wife Deidre and I are proud to raise their two children and call home. I was born in 1971 to Ted and Kathy Radke. I have an older sister, Catrina Nesper and older brother, HT Radke. Both of my parents served on the Martinez City Council and my father currently represents Martinez on the East Bay Regional Park District Board. I have spent the last 10 years serving Martinez residents on many local community boards and commissions. I have served on the Martinez Parks and Recreation Commission (2003 + 2009); Martinez Marina Commission, Commissioner and Chair (2006 + 2009); Shell Citizen Advisory Panel (2006 + 2009); Martinez Education Foundation (2009 + present); Martinez Parks, Recreation, Marina and Cultural Commission (PRMCC), Chair (2009 + present). In 2008, I co-chaired the Measure H campaign for a $30 million bond measure to remodel improve the Martinez Library, all City parks and rebuild the Rankin Aquatic Center. Measure H was approved by the voters by 69%. Since the passing of Measure H, the PRMCC has been responsible for designing and overseeing all of the reconstruction projects. The renovation of the Martinez Library and Rankin Park Aquatic Center were completed in 2011. The projects were not only successful, but were completed on time and on budget. Additionally, this year, PRMCC has completed Holiday Highlands, Rankin Park and resurfaced all City sports courts. Over the next several years all other parks in Martinez will be remodeled and brought to current ADA and safety standards due to Measure H. As a partner at the law firm of Gordon, Watrous, Ryan, Langley, Bruno and Paltenghi located in downtown Martinez, I am a local business owner who understands the potential our city offers and challenges Martinez faces in building a vibrant local business community. I have been practicing law for over 12 years, specializing in civil litigation. I met my wife, Deidre Siguenza, while in law school. Deidre is a practicing attorney and mother to our two children Payton (5 years old) and Lincoln (1 year old). Payton began Kindergarten this year in the Martinez Unified School District. A product of our local schools, I graduated from Alhambra High School in 1989, followed by Diablo Valley Community College and obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Government from California State University, Sacramento in 1995. During the time I attended CSU Sacramento, I had the opportunity to work for Assemblymember Delaine Eastin, Chair of the Assembly Education Committee and interned for Congressman George Miller, Jr. in Washington, D.C. I attended Golden Gate University, School of Law in San Francisco, California and obtained a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1999. I still enjoy spending time in my childhood haunts, especially with my children. I value and support local business and I often frequent many of the local events that Martinez has to offer. |
