Smart Voter Official Statement for Michael Matienzo

Candidate for
Board Member; Knightsen Elementary School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Michael Matienzo

My age is: 47

My occupation is: Construction Project Manager

Education and Qualifications:

I am a construction project manager and also have served as a reserve police officer in Santa Clara County for the past 20 years. A 1983 graduate of St. Francis High in Mountain View, I attended college in Chico and in 1990 graduated from the Reserve Police Academy at Evergreen College in San Jose.

My two young children attend Knightsen School. My wife Lisa volunteers in our children's classrooms and occasionally substitute-teaches there.

My concern is the financial welfare of the school, as well as the class sizes and quality of education provided to the children. Knightsen School is burdened by a debt as a result of the nation's economic meltdown just as the district was building a new school for growth in The Lakes.

I want to be part of a strong leadership team that ensures Knightsen School's survival; while weighing every decision based on whether it is the best we can do, under the circumstances, for its students. I am pleased that the Knightsen Teachers Association has endorsed me, and look forward to working with the administration, staff, parents, Knightsen community and taxpayers.
