Smart Voter Official Statement for Terry Kremin

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Concord

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Terry Kremin

My age is:

My occupation is: Scientist, Author, Educator, Analyst and Father

Education and Qualifications:

Take what you have and make it work. Concord needs that now. It is what I do best. I have a great insight into how things work, or aren't working. I have always taken what is there and made more out of it, always driving forward. From growing up working on farms, to 7 years as a licensed aircraft mechanic, turning an injury into opportunity to get my BS in psychobiology from UCLA, and then my PhD from Boston University and doing research in behavioral neuroscience at UCSF, to now teaching at Dominican University, and being the father of two amazing young girls.

Our city also needs independent and rational thought on the City Council, not cronyism and secret deals for friends and donors. I bring independence and logic along with the insight, inspiration and ability from both blue and white collar experience to delve into the issues, hear all sides, and come up with solid answers and make sound, rational decisions.

We also need to get back to putting families first instead of developers and other interests. The 'Family First' motto was a primary reason we chose to buy a house in Concord. I will fight to maintain and promote families through strong public safety and recreation programs and opportunities. I want my children to grow up in a wonderful city like Concord, and make sure Concord stays a wonderful city.

I support smart, controlled growth to avoid boom and bust cycles, keep high density where it belongs, and ensure all Concord neighborhoods get the attention they need and deserve, instead of forgotten about as other's eyes move toward the east and on to the shiny new toys. Let's bring in real, long- term jobs to help save our neighborhoods and keep the city strong.
