Why am I running for the town council?

By Jim Jordon Jelincic

Candidate for Council Member; Town of Danville

This information is provided by the candidate
Community service is a noble exercise of our freedom. A call for term limits, honesty in our leaders, and a 3 point plan to preserve, promote, and protect.
Many people have asked me why I want to run for town council...

I truly love Danville. Having lived in other cities, I have a deep appreciation for its beauty and charm, its fantastic school district, and all of the town activities. I have been an active member of our community through coaching in youth sports and serving on the board of our Home Owner Association.

I'm seeking office because I enjoy helping people, and I was raised to believe that community service is a noble exercise of our freedom. However, I also believe that community service must be done for the right reasons. It should be viewed as a personal commitment to better our community, not as a means to gain financially or professionally from it. Some professions can directly gain from a seat on the town council. I would ask that you consider that when you cast your vote.

I would like to see term limits. I think that people get stale after too many years in a position. It opens up too many opportunities to be swayed to support people and ideas that might not be in the best interest of our town. We have been fortunate to have had so many honest and selfless office holders, but one never knows what the future holds. If I am elected, I will not seek election beyond 2 terms.

I anticipate that the economy in California will remain weak for some time. This as an opportunity for me to serve in a capacity where I can have an impact in keeping our town financially strong while still providing for the established town priorities of; public safety and disaster preparedness, a positive community appearance, activities and recreational opportunities for youth, adults, and seniors, and retaining the town history and character.

If I am elected, I promise to;

  • Preserve our small town atmosphere
  • Promote Danville and our town merchants
  • Protect open spaces, our scenic hillsides and local control.

My campaign is self-funded. I did not, nor will I, set up an election committee allowing me to raise funds. I am not accepting contributions from either individuals or special interest groups. I am only interested in making Danville a better place to live for everyone in the community and I will listen to ideas from anyone that brings them forward.

My name is Jim Jordon Jelincic and I would appreciate your vote on November 6th.

Thank you.
